Only about 7 miles outside of the town of Bryson City and the ride there is very scenic. Gorgeous long range mountain views and views of the river. Once you get there it's a short maybe 1/4 mile walk to the tunnel from the parking area. Some people hate the graffiti. I found it interesting. Although most of it is vulgar there are some interesting/talented pieces as well. Overall a great experience with a neat story behind it.

Great place for a hike with interesting history. Worth the visit if you have a few hours to spare. Close to Bryson City. The tunnel is located short walk from the parking lot and is nice and cool even in the summer.

This place of broken promise is a nice short hike. The road are well maintained. You can see rangers in the vicinity. Writings along the wall inside the tunnels are everywhere. Hope people refrain doing it. The overlook to the lake is amazing. Love the view there too. There are also hiking trails around.
